This book explores the ideological constructs that accompanied the conversion of Barcelona into a global city. The transformation of Barcelona must be interpreted in accordance with the municipal government aimed to prepare the city to host the Olympic Games and to make it appealing in the long run to the new highly mobile capital. This book concentrates on Olympic Barcelona as a case study. It tries to understand a particular city in a certain historical period, and reflects on the conditions of the urban in the contemporary times. An overview of the chapters included in this book is also given.
