This chapter examines Lovecraft's life and work between 1928 and 1930. It describes his spring travels to New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington, and Virginia in 1928; his writing of ‘The Dunwich Horror’ in August 1928; his revisions for Zealia Bishop; his travels during the spring–summer of 1930; and his writing of ‘The Whisperer in Darkness’.
