Mobility among Women in Nineteenth-Century Dublin
Mobility among Women in Nineteenth-Century Dublin
This chapter focuses on the mobility patterns of women in nineteenth-century Dublin, and explores how poor women struggled to survive in Dublin from 1868 to 1875. Using the records of 60 individual women from the register of St. Brigid's Orphanage, Dublin, it traces the mobility patterns of these women and examines whether they can be taken as representative of the types of individuals.
