This chapter presents an account of various events in the life of Oxford in 1572. These include his marriage troubles; his witnessing of the creation of Walter Devereux as Earl of Essex and Edward Fynes alias Clinton as Earl of Lincoln on 4 May; and his attendance on 8 May of the opening of the first session of Elizabeth's Fourth Parliament. The chapter also provides two letters Oxford wrote to Lord Burghley on some date in September.
