This chapter sums up the key findings of this study on the livres pairs, a list of books contained in French author Alfred Jarry's novel Gestes et Opinions du docteur Faustroll, pataphysicien. It highlights the enormous variety of symbolist writing during the 1890s and the bizarre character of many of the works that Jarry admired. It suggests that while Jarry was considered unique thinker who commands widespread respect for his transcendent literature, he was far from alone in his tastes and attitudes.
