This chapter discusses the history of shipbuilding company Laird, Son and Co. during the period the period from 1865 to 1903. It explains that founder John Laird retired in 1861 and the company was taken over by his sons. In 1899 the partnership was reconstructed as a public limited company called Laird Brothers Ltd. This chapter also discusses the Lairds meeting with Alexander Wilson of Charles Cammell and Co. and eventual merger of their companies called Cammell Laird and Company.
