The New Politics of Sinn Féin

This introduction provides an overview of the evolution of Provisionalism and Republican movement from its peak to its practical adaptation in the British rule, and explores the themes assessed in the first few chapters of the book in line with the contributory factors in the said ideological evolution. The introduction highlights the role of Provisionalism and the British state as opposing forces and as catalysts to each other's adaptive political strategies and dynamics. It also tackles the mechanism by which Provisional movement has been shaped through the peace process with the status quo.
