The Ideological Origins of New Sinn Féin
This chapter discusses the effect of the origins, history, and traditions of the Provisional ideology on the political landscape of Northern Ireland, and examines factors that shifted the Republican tradition and Provisional ideologies into a new form of nationalism within the British State and Northern Ireland peace process. The trends and patterns in the paradigm shifts as affected by various political forces and schools of thought and discourse both internal and external are also discussed. A handful of analyses of different conflicts and opposing forces against Northern Ireland's nature and political origins that led to a new nationalism – nationalisme de gestion – are also presented.
