This chapter presents the author's views regarding a study which claimed that King George III as well as other members of the British royal family suffered from of porphyria variegata. The paper, published in the British Medical Journal, was entitled ‘Porphyria in the Royal Houses of Stuart, Hanover, and Prussia – A Follow-up Study of George III's Illness’ (1968). The author firmly believed that the illness reported in the British royal family was not due to attacks of acute porphyria.
