Medical School
Medical School
This chapter recounts the author's experiences as a medical student in Liverpool University. He began medical school in 1936 at the age of seventeen. In 1937, the author visited Germany to witness firsthand the situation of the Jews; he was able to do so by soliciting funds from Nelson Rockefeller of New York. Upon his return to England he wrote to Rockefeller about what he saw in Germany, and expressed his belief that the Germans appeared to be preparing for a war in which they hoped to conquer Europe. The author also said that what he had seen happening to the Jews seemed to be a prelude to a massacre. The remainder of the chapter focuses on his clinical training during the war.
