This chapter assesses the role of iconic architecture in the strategies of urban regeneration projects. It also examines the relationship between urban regeneration strategies and the form and meanings attached to architecture. The chapter discusses the emergence and collapse of the Fourth Grace project in Liverpool and explains the reasons why this project was highly contested since its inception.
