This chapter examines the start of Theobald Wolfe Tone's political career and his association with the Whites. It discusses the Whigs' demand for parliamentary reform and Catholic emancipation and explains that Tone was enamoured with the Whigs and began to visualise a future in association with them in 1790. It describes some of Tone's legal work in election-related this disputes and his writings about the Whigs and analyses his first mature work as a political pamphleteer titled Spanish War!.
