French cultural diplomacy now has one global brand – Insitut français – promoting books, the theatre, cinema and the visual arts, informing particularly on the Internet, training personnel for the cultural network abroad and transmitting culture, including other cultures entering France via cultural seasons. Decentralized cooperation with regional authorities is encouraged through twinning, projects and technical exchanges – developing countries are partners in local governance, economic development and self-sufficiency. The European Union National Institutes for Culture aligns many European cultural institutes prioritizing Brazil, Russia, India, China and countries bordering the European Union: UNESCO recognizes the uniqueness of cultural activities, goods and services: for music, programmes of exchanges; in publishing, supporting translations, book supply including library acquisitions; for live performance, meetings between professionals, exchanges and training; promoting artists, exhibitions and festivals, including traditional and folk arts . French Expertise International channels cultural and scientific diplomacy, fulfilling French objectives of influence and development in partner countries; local authorities promote improvements to living conditions, urban productivity and planning. New French television channels serving Africa, Europe and beyond have joined the thousands globally: Euronews prioritizes multilingualism; there is digital exchange of information, knowledge, culture, film and television; opposing standardization will counter cultural imperialism and loss of identity.
