Sections 201-211 of the translation: Josephus’ summing-up of the life and character of Gaius ‘Caligula’. ‘Once he had his fill of power, he used it for one purpose only, the pursuit of outrageous violence.’ Despite his excellent education, he had no self-control, and his brutality turned even well-wishers against him.
